It's been a wonderful year for us here at Stardust Castle! So much has happened, with so many big announcements, and of course, the 2018 Credit Union Christmas Pageant was more magical and wonderful than ever!

We've decided to look back on our year and look at our favourite moments. It's so important to look back on your year and reflect, remembering and treasuring all of the wonderful things that happened.

Here are our favourite moments from 2018!

Announcing our 2018 Pageant Queen and King!

The Pageant Royal Family is a wonderful tradition of the Pageant, with a Pageant Queen crowned every year since 1939! This year, to commemorate our final year with the credit unions as partners of the Pageant, the Royal Family was crowned from staff from each of the four credit unions.

Katrina Edwards from Beyond Bank and Brandon Kelly from Police Credit Union were crowned as Queen and King for 2018. Both were very excited and honoured to be selected, particularly for Katrina who has participated in the Pageant for 20 years! You can find out more about them here.

The 2018 Design a Mini Float Competition Winner

This year the Design a Mini Float competition attracted over 400 entries from students around South Australia, for designs of a mini float. It was a very hard decision, but the winning design was The Kindness Tree, designed by Lolita Casey, aged 7.

Lolita's design was a Christmas Tree that shows love for all people. She decorated the tree with hearts and peace signs, and topped with a rainbow flag, to show that Kindness should be shown to everyone. Lolita received $500, donated by the credit unions, and a wonderful day visiting Stardust Castle for a private tour with her class, and to see the reveal of her float! See more of it here.

Introducing Camp Quality as our Charity Partner

One of the most exciting moments of the year was when we introduced our official charity partner for 2018, Camp QualityCamp Quality supports children and their families from the first experience of cancer, through every stage: from treatment, to remission and in the case of bereavement. They do this by providing innovative programs and services to these kids and their families, helping them to develop life skills and strengthen their well being.

We were lucky enough to be joined by some very special guests for the announcement. Our very own Jolly was on hand to welcome Giggles, Camp Quality's mascot, to the Pageant family. We were also joined by the very special Jazmyn and Maddie, two children that Camp Quality have helped as they go through their cancer treatments. In fact, Jazmyn was this year's Cherry Princess, who we were lucky enough to have in the Pageant! There is still time to donate to Camp Quality and help shine a light on kindness this year. Shining a Light on Kindness

This year's Pageant theme was a special one, and one that we should all keep in our hearts over the Christmas period. The theme 'Shining a Light on Kindness' was our way of sharing the good deeds in the community, focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness. It was all about random acts of Kindness!

In a world that is often filled with sadness, despair and bullying is the subject of the moment, we need to celebrate kindness. Harnessing the goodwill of the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, it is a platform for collaboration based on the foundation of kindness.

The theme was reflected on Pageant Day, with millions of acts of kindness performed by both everyone watching the Pageant, and the people in the Pageant.

New Floats Galore!

This year there were some pretty incredible new floats added to the Pageant. Who could forget the Credit Union Pageant Express! A beautiful big locomotive complete with steam, that was the first float coming down the route in this year's Pageant.

There was also the Gingerbread House - which made us all very hungry! - The Kindness Tree, and some snazzy new updates to the Rudolph's Christmas Lolley Trolley!

Welcoming our New Partner from 2019

For 23 years we have had an extraordinary partnership with the credit unions, working together to make the Pageant come to life year after year. After 23 years of love, kindness and magic, we thank the credit unions for their enthusiasm and support.

To usher in a new era of the Pageant, we have welcomed National Pharmacies as our new naming partner, so that the Pageant will be known from 2019 as the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant. It's an exciting time as we welcome National Pharmacies as our partner, so look out for some changes around the Pageant website and social media from January!

Pageant Day!

You guessed it. Our favourite day of 2018 was of course, the 2018 Credit Union Christmas PageantOver 320,000 people lined the streets of Adelaide for what was a perfect Pageant Day. The sun was shining (just enough!), and there were so many smiling and happy faces enjoying all of the fun of this year's Pageant. There were floats, bands, dancers, skaters, choirs and more!

It was all finished off with the big moment, when Father Christmas came to town! It was so exciting to see him finally arrive on his big sleigh, and give his special Christmas message. We want to thank everyone again that came to the Pageant - or watched from home - for their kindness. Every wave and smile is an act of kindness, and the Pageant wouldn't be what is without our wonderful Pageant Community.
