Your essential Pageant Day packing list

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Wondering what to pack for the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant? We're here to help! Check out our quick list of essential items to ensure you make the most of the day.

What to pack for Pageant Day

  • Blankets, rugs, low folding chairs and cushions – comfort is key, so bring comfy things to sit on! Leave your ladders, scaffolding and pop-up shelters at home.

  • Clothes to keep warm. It may be cool in the morning and become warmer as the Pageant starts. Wear layers that can be easily removed, this way you will be well prepared for both climates.

  • A plastic poncho. Even if the forecast is looking good there’s always the chance it could rain, and umbrella’s are a ‘no no’ as they may get in people's view, so slip a poncho in your bag just in case.

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. You should always be sun smart, even when it's cloudy. Make sure you pack sun protection for yourself and the kids.

  • Plenty of water in reusable water bottles. You can fill them up for free at the SA Water Quench Benches along the route when your water runs out! If it’s forecast for high temperatures – you could even freeze your water bottle the night before.

  • Snacks snacks and more snacks. It's a long, but an exciting morning at the Pageant so be sure pack plenty of snacks to keep you going. There will also be a number of cafe's and coffee spots open in the city on Pageant morning, so leave the barbeque at home and make sure to check out which traders will be open on our Route Map page.

  • Colourful chalk. While you wait for the Pageant to start it's a great time for the kids to draw and decorate the road with chalk. Come prepared and pick up some free chalk from any National Pharmacies store.
  • Bubble wands for the kids – these won’t take up much room in your bag and are a cheap and cheerful way to keep the kids occupied while they patiently wait for the festivities to begin. Just remember as soon as the pageant starts everyone must be behind the Blue Honour Line.
  • Phone or Camera – the Pageant is full of so many joyous moments you will want to capture and share with your family and friends. If you're posting on social media, make sure to tag us at @christmaspageant and use the hashtag #NpPageant so we can see all of your magical moments!

  • Route Map – print out the Route Map and it keep it in your bag for reference. It has the crossings as well as the all-important toilet locations so you don’t get caught out.

Now your bag is packed you’re all set to enjoy the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant.
