SA Water float completes this year’s National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant line-up

The final new float joining the line-up for this year’s National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant has been unveiled today in the heart of Adelaide.

Celebrating the fun of the outdoors, the eye-catching float titled Christmas by the Pool, has come to fruition thanks to sponsorship from SA Water.

It showcases a backyard scene with decking, clothesline, a pool and even features real grass and a live water tap and hose which will be used by float characters to drizzle pageant-goers as it makes its way along the 3.5km route on Saturday 12 November.

The float has been designed and produced by Lindsay Kari, together with the talented team at Stardust Castle, the Christmas Pageant warehouse.

Joshua Zugajev, Senior Manager of Media, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement said SA Water is proud to support the 2022 National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant.

“We’re excited to be showcasing our new pageant float – Christmas by the Pool – which promotes healthy, inclusive and active communities, with some of our people on board enjoying the summer sun in a cool, green backyard made possible through smart water use,” Joshua said.

“Our team will be getting into the holiday spirit in their Christmas shirts and shorts, enjoying cool spaces on the wheelchair accessible deck, and by the pool thanks to real plants and grass.

“This partnership also supports our BYOB campaign, which encourages South Australians to ditch single-use plastic bottles and fill their reusable bottles for free with safe, clean water from one of the many drinking fountains located around the city.

“We encourage everyone attending the pageant to download the BYOB app, to easily find your nearest hydration station.”

The float was revealed at a media call at Adelaide’s Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga earlier today by Brian Gilbertson, Director of National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant.

“Christmas by the Pool is a wonderful addition to this year’s Christmas Pageant line up. It is sure to spread some fun and laughter as the characters onboard give the crowds a little spray of water as they travel along the pageant route – it is one to look out for,” said Mr Gilbertson.

“Our in-house team of carpenters at Stardust Castle have brought artist Kari Lindsay’s vision for the float to life. They have done a tremendous job as it is a great reflection of some of the joy that the sponsor, SA Water, brings to the lives of families and homes across the state.

“The float is representative of the thousands of households across Australia where the back yard becomes a party space for Christmas - with lunch from the barbeque, neighbours in their best Christmas shirts and a post-lunch game of backyard cricket under the Hills Hoist.”

SA Water will provide additional hydration stations across the pageant route to ensure children and families have access to cool, fresh water on what is a long and exciting day.
