Heading to the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant at Adelaide Oval? FREE public transport can help get you there

Adelaide Metro will provide extra buses, trains and trams to get you to and from this year’s National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant.

Please be aware that many road closures and public transport detours will be in place.

This year, the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant will be held at Adelaide Oval, which has many public transport services close by:

• Adelaide Railway Station (7 minute walk via River Torrens footbridge)
• Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop (7 minute walk)
• Festival Plaza tram stop (6 minute walk via King William Road)
• Multiple major bus routes service King William Road/Street, North Terrace and Currie/Grenfell Streets (walking distances varying between 2-8 minutes)

Free Travel

Free Travel will be available on Saturday 14 November from first service until last service to people travelling to and from the Pageant on all regular Adelaide Metro and Adelaide Oval Express bus, train and tram services, upon presentation of a valid event ticket.

Bus Services

A regular weekend timetable will be operating from 6:12am to 12:12am.

Adelaide Oval Express bus services will commence at 4-4.30pm with the last service arriving into Adelaide at 6.30pm. Adelaide Oval Express buses will drop off and pick at designated locations along King William Road.

Adelaide Oval Express bus services will operate up to two hours before the event and depart King William Road bus interchange up to 45 minutes after the event.

Train Services

A regular weekend timetable will be operating from 6:12am to 12:12am. Seaford, Gawler and Outer Harbor services running at a 30 minute frequency and Grange and Belair line services operating at a 60 minute frequency.

All Adelaide Oval Express train services operate to and from Adelaide Railway Station, as short walk across the River Torren Foot bridge to Adelaide Oval.  Adelaide Oval Express services will operate up to two hours prior to the Pageant and depart Adelaide Railway Station up to one hour after the Pageant. Where possible regular services will operate with additional railcars to cater for increased passenger loadings.

Tram Services 

A regular tram weekend timetable will be operating from 6:09am to 1:22am. Between 8am – 7pm trams operate to a 10 minute frequency, then reduce to a 15/20 minute frequency from 7pm to 1:22am.

Adelaide Oval Express tram services will operate up to two hours prior to the event and depart at tram stop – Festival Plaza and tram stop – Adelaide Railway Station, up to 45 minutes after the event.

The closest tram stops to Adelaide Oval are:

  • Festival Plaza Tram Stop on King Williams Road
  • Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop on North Terrace.

Tram travel tips:

Check the destination sign! Electronic destination signs are located on the front and side of all trams. Always check these signs to ensure you’re boarding the correct service to get to where you need to go.

Heading to the event:

  • From the East End of the city (Botanic Gardens): Catch Botanic line trams and disembark at the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop.
  • From the Southern side of the city (Glenelg): Catch Glenelg line trams and disembark at the Festival Plaza Tram Stop.
  • From the Western side of the city (Entertainment Centre): Catch Glenelg line trams or Botanic line trams and disembark at the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop.

Leaving the event:

  • To the East End of the city (Botanic Gardens): Catch Botanic line trams from the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.
  • To the Southern side of the city (Glenelg): Catch Glenelg line trams from the Festival Plaza Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.
  • To the Western side of the city (Entertainment Centre): Catch Glenelg line trams or Botanic line trams from the Adelaide Railway Station Tram Stop and disembark at your preferred stop.

 

Taxi Services

Taxi ranks will be set up at the following locations:

  • King William Road west side south Penington Tce
  • Montefiore Road east side north of War Memorial Drive
  • War Memorial Drive east of Montefiore Road (Disabled only)

The following taxi rank will be temporarily closed post-event to egress of patrons from the event:

  • Casino taxi closed at 8:45pm to 10pm and relocated to outside the Convention Centre

COVID-19 MEASURES

  • The Department of Infrastructure and Transport have put COVID safety measures in place for all public transport means. 

    There will be increased frequency/capacity of transport including:

    • Additional Bus services (Adelaide Oval Express)
    • Increased transport capacity (to cater for 50,000, event has max limit of 25,000)
    • Temporary taxi ranks:
      • Montefiore Road - east side, north of War Memorial Drive.
      • War Memorial Drive - east of Montefiore Road (Disabled only).
