Pageant Day is one of the biggest days in South Australia and we want to make sure your day is as easy as possible! Here are some handy tips to ensure your visit to the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant is a breeze.
Handy tips for Pageant Day:
- Be prepared! Check our essential packing list for everything you need to bring — from blankets and ponchos to sunscreen and chalk.
- Before you make your way into the city, study the Route Map so you know where to go, and remember to bring a copy with you.
- Please leave your ladders, pop-up shelters and umbrella's at home. If you set up a chair, make sure you leave enough room for children to sit in front of you - they don't take up much room but they're our biggest fans!
- Don't forget to slip, slop, slap! You should always be sun smart, even when it's cloudy. Make sure you pack sun protection for yourself and the kids.
- Use public transport to avoid the traffic.
- Arrive early to get the best spot.
- Arrange a meeting spot and a time to meet up in case you and your group are separated during the day.
- Locate the nearest public toilets – you can check out our Route Map which displays the closest toilets along the pageant route.
- For security reasons, please do not leave any bags or personal items unattended. If you see any suspicious items or behaviour, please report it to Police, Pageant officials or security.
- Wait until the roads are closed to set up your blankets and rugs behind the Blue Honour Line.
- Remain behind the Blue Honour Line, this way we can ensure our performers have plenty of room to do what they do best.
- Do not smoke or vape around children. The National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant is smoke-free and vape-free.
- Introduce your child to the nearest police officer so they know who to go to if they become lost.
- Get a lost child / vulnerable people wristband. All Police officers will have wristbands for children that you can write your phone number on, this way police and emergency services can make contact and reunite you with your child if they become lost. See more information below.
- Take a photo of your child on your phone – this way a detailed description can be given to police and emergency services if they become lost. In the unfortunate event that you should lose a child and are not promptly reunited, please contact the nearest police officer or go to the police stations at either 55 Hindley Street or 176 Grenfell Street to file a "missing person" report.
- Check out the National Pharmacies stalls for some fun Christmas merchandise. See locations on our Route Map.
- Take lots of snaps and tag us on Instagram at @christmaspageant #ChristmasPageant
- Have lots of fun!

Lost child/vulnerable people safety at the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant
We encourage everyone attending the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant to take a photo of their child/vulnerable person and retain this on their mobile when at the event. If the child/person you are responsible for becomes lost – it allows SA Police to see what the person looks like and what they are wearing.
Police officers along the route will have lost child/vulnerable people wristbands on them for parents/guardians/carers to write on and put on the wrist of their child/vulnerable person they are responsible for. They will also be available at National Pharmacies merchandise stands and cross-over points along the route. Please bring a permanent marker with you so you can write your information on the wristband.
